This camp activity is for registered Girl Scouts entering Grades 7-12.
Join us as we sail Sunfish sailboats around Medina Lake. As a novice or mate you will learn the techniques used by sailors around the world. You will rig, de-rig and learn how to use the wind to sail. By Friday you will have enough skill to give your parents a boat ride. The United States Sailing Association Course will be our guide for developing skills. You will participate in special projects, campfires, and sing our favorite songs! And of course, playing in the lake is always on the schedule!
Prerequisites: Swim 25 yards and support self fully clothed in deep water for three minutes. Need to weigh 75 lbs. or more. Must be emotionally prepared to live and work in a group situation with peers (tent camping, crewing a boat), and physical stability to load and unload small boats in groups.
**By registering for this activity, you acknowledge:
- All camp deposits are nontransferable and nonrefundable.
- The camp cancellation policy in the 2020 Summer Camp Guide and on your registration receipt.
- Discount rates will not apply if a camp is cancelled at a later date; full price for discounted camp will be reflected.
- Compliance with the grade level restriction and that your Girl Scout is a current registered member. If your Girl Scout is not in the grade level listed, this will result in loss of registration deposit and a 25% administrative fee. ***Non-Council Girl Scout Fee—For Girl Scouts with current membership residing outside GSSWT’s service area, there is an additional $50 fee per girl/per session that will be added to your camp balance. Note: This $50 fee will be assessed to each camp session. Camp balance must be paid in full before attending camp.
